Troubleshoot label scans

Improve label scan results by retaking the photo, checking confusing fields, and falling back to manual entry when needed.

Common scan problems

Most poor scan results come from blur, glare, shadow, angled labels, damaged paper, or labels where the key details are split across front and back.

Try a better photo

Retake the label photo before assuming the scan is wrong. A simple, clear image usually improves recognition.

  1. 1. Place the bottle on a steady surface.
  2. 2. Use bright indirect light.
  3. 3. Fill the frame with the label.
  4. 4. Tap to focus before taking the photo.
  5. 5. Try the back label if the front omits the producer, vintage, or region.

When the result still looks wrong

Edit the draft manually or add the bottle by hand. If the same clear label repeatedly creates a wrong identity, contact support with the bottle photo and the incorrect result.
