Questions & answers
Can I start without paying?
Yes. Start with one cellar and up to 50 bottles, with no payment card needed. The cards show the current monthly allowances for Cella, generated bottle profiles and restaurant wine-list scans.
How do bottles and profiles differ?
Bottle capacity counts the quantities in your cellar. A case of six counts as six bottles, even when they share one wine record. Recording an opening reduces the quantity; bottles you have consumed no longer use capacity. A generated profile is research about a wine, with its own monthly allowance.
What uses a generated-profile allowance?
Looking up an existing wine and adding it to your cellar does not start new research. Requesting a generated profile uses one allowance when the research starts, even if it later fails or you decide not to save the wine. A label photograph first helps identify the wine; new profile research is counted separately.
When do monthly allowances reset?
Cella, generated-profile and restaurant wine-list allowances reset at the start of each calendar month, including on annual plans. Bottle and cellar capacity do not reset. Collector has unlimited bottle and cellar capacity and Cella questions; generated profiles and restaurant wine-list scans still have monthly limits.
What happens if I cancel or downgrade?
Web subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancel through billing and your paid access continues until the end of the billing period. A lower plan does not delete your cellar records. You can still view and export them; adding bottles or cellars is limited by the new capacity.
Can I use my web subscription on my phone?
Sign in with the same SmartCellar account to use its plan allowance. Manage a subscription bought on the website through web billing. Available on the web, iPhone and Android.
Will I receive a VAT invoice?
Yes. Open Settings, then Subscription and Invoice history to view your invoice or download its PDF. Invoices show the subscription charge, applicable VAT or other tax, total, and supplier details: Positive Climb Ltd, 44 The Glebe, Lavendon, MK46 4HG, United Kingdom. VAT number GB510532245.
When will I pay?
Choosing a paid plan first creates a free account. Verify your email, review the plan, then continue to payment. Web prices are in pounds and include 20% UK VAT. For overseas customers, tax is calculated from the billing location at checkout. Check the final total before confirming your subscription.
