Create your first cellar

Create a named cellar for the place your bottles actually live, then make it the default when most new bottles should land there.

Use a cellar for a real storage place

A cellar can be a room, rack, wine fridge, bonded storage account, or named collection. The best first cellar is the one that matches where most bottles are stored today.

Keep the name plain enough that it still makes sense when the collection grows. Names such as Home cellar, Kitchen wine fridge, Bonded storage, or Weekend rack are easier to scan than clever labels.

Create the cellar

Open Cellars, choose New Cellar, then enter the name and any helpful location note.

  1. 1. Choose a clear cellar name.
  2. 2. Add a short description if another person may help manage it.
  3. 3. Set it as the default cellar if most new bottles should be added there.
  4. 4. Save, then add a few real bottles before importing or entering the rest of the collection.

What to do next

After the cellar exists, add a small batch of bottles and check that the location and quantity fields match how you naturally search for wine.

  • Use separate cellars when access or ownership is different.
  • Use storage location for rack, shelf, case, fridge, or bin details inside the cellar.
  • Archive a cellar only when it should disappear from normal day-to-day views.
