Record tasting notes

Save what happened when a bottle was opened so future choices are guided by your own taste, not memory alone.

Why tasting notes matter

Tasting notes turn a cellar from an inventory into a memory. They help you remember what was worth repeating, which bottles needed more time, and which styles actually suited your table.

Capture the useful details

A useful note does not need to be long. Aim for enough detail to make the next decision easier.

  • Rating or overall impression.
  • Aroma, palate, finish, and any food pairing.
  • Occasion and who drank it.
  • Whether you would drink or buy it again.
  • A photo when the bottle or occasion is worth remembering.

Connect the note to cellar upkeep

When a tasting note records an opened bottle, make sure quantity is updated as well. If the wine tasted young, tired, or perfect, use that note to revisit the drinking window for remaining bottles.
