Start from the bottle you opened
Open the wine in the correct cellar and choose Record opened bottle. The Add note control on that bottle also opens this workflow. Saving it records an opening and reduces the cellar quantity. To add more impressions about a bottle you already recorded as opened, edit its existing tasting note.
Record the opening
- Set Bottles opened to the number you opened and check the Available quantity.
- Set Date opened to the actual day. You can record a past opening, but not a future date.
- Optionally add a Rating, Occasion and Notes. A sentence such as “Fresh cherry, firm tannins; better after an hour, served with roast lamb” is enough.
- For more detail, choose Show detailed tasting notes and fill in the fields that help you describe the wine. Leave unknown fields empty.
- Optionally add a JPG or PNG photo up to 3 MB and set Would you drink this again?
- Choose Save and close. If prompted, select the mapped bottles you opened and retry. Check the remaining stock: opening 2 from 6 should leave 4.
Record a tasting in the mobile app
Open Cellars, choose the cellar and wine, then choose Add tasting note or Add note. Complete the fields you want and choose Save tasting. A new tasting on this mobile screen records one bottle opened on today’s date, so do not also use Remove bottle.
Use the website’s Record opened bottle form when you need to choose a past date or record several bottles in one opening. To amend an existing mobile note, use Edit and Update tasting.
Find and improve an existing note
Open Tasting history from the website navigation, find the wine and open the note. You can also find tasting history on the wine’s page. Use the note’s edit action to add impressions or correct the date rather than recording the same opening again.
For a short note, record what you tasted, what you served with it and whether you would open the next bottle now or wait. The detailed fields are optional.
Correct an accidental opening
Deleting a tasting note does not put bottles back into stock. If you saved an opening by mistake, remove the incorrect note and separately correct Quantity in the cellar wine’s Edit details. If the bottles were mapped, place the restored bottles back in their real positions.
Before retrying after a connection problem, look for the note and check the remaining count. This avoids saving the same opening twice.
